Campaign Story
Molly is a beautiful Soi dog (street dog) who I met two years ago while visiting my son in Thailand, she shared her small pavement outside the family mart with her friend Lady. Life for Molly and Lady was a life of eating out of the bins and hoping that tourists and local Thai people would give them something to eat. Often I saw kindness towards them, but I also saw cruelty and I decided to save them and bring them home. Sadly due to cost it was not possible to bring both lady and Molly home and the decision was made to bring lady home, for no other reason than on the day the vet collected Lady, Molly was no where to be seen. Then a few weeks ago I visited my son, I decided to go back to the Soi not expecting to see Molly, but there she was and I was shocked, she ran across the road wagging her tail to greet me. As I tried to leave her she followed me and it was hard to walk away, so I decided If she recognised me, she would remember her best friend lady, they were a double act and now Molly walked the streets alone. I always felt guilt that I left her behind, as well as leaving her there on the Soi without Lady. There and then I decided to try to bring Molly back to the UK, but this time I need help from the kindness of strangers and so Mollys journey has begun. Patrick is a German citizen who helped me return Lady. Molly is in Patrick's safe hands, he will take care of her, take her to the vets and will arrange her safe passage home. The time scale will be approximately October 2017, Molly will spend her quarantine in Thailand. Bringing Lady back to the UK was the best decision I have ever made, she is a true friend and I believe she knows she was saved, because the look of love she gives to our family every day
PATRICK HAS OFFERED APPROX COSTINGS OVER THE NEXT MONTHS ANY DONATION OVER THE AMOUNT NEEDED TO BRING MOLLY HOME WILL BE DONATED TO THE "SOI DOG FOUNDATION PHUKET" Their website is soidog.org
This charity does a wonderful job taking care and vaccinating and sterilising thousands of Soi dogs and cats around Thailand, in fact they reached a mile stone recently having sterilised 150,000 dogs/cats. They also feed the street dogs. The shelter is home to around 400 dogs and are always looking for new homes for these dogs and cats. I know many people who have given these dogs a new home in the West and like me now have a happy healthy dog, who have become part of their family.
