Texas Tortoise Rescue

You may or may not know but the Texas Tortoise is endangered. A desvistating disease and human encroachment has dropped tortoise numbers extremely low. The bare bones funding will allow us to select a disease free genetically diverse group. And build a habitat for them. These will be kept on 10 acres of donated land which will allow limited/no human contact. Funding will specifically be used for habitat make ready( shelters and planting food sources), Veterianry health checks and population surveys by a biologist over the next year. This funding will help us with start up and all expenses for the next year. Once we are up and running we can apply for more permanent funding from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the State of Texas
