Rob Cunningham moved to New York City in 1982, where he quickly came to know everyone. And everyone loved him. Because meeting Rob was an instant invitation to friendship, and friendship quickly became like family. His generosity, his goodness, his spontaneity, his grace, all had people lining up to have Rob as a "brother."
On Memorial Day 2004, Rob had a diving accident that nearly took his life, but did steal his movement from the neck down. Unfortunately, like many in the freelance world, he did not have healthcare coverage at the time. But the accident did not touch an inch of his heart and soul. Those have only grown deeper and wider and more beautiful in the intervening years. His laughter and insights remain undiminished. His spirit is a lighthouse. And his ability to talk about March Madness for hours at a stretch, without noticing everyone is yawning, remains unrivaled. In these past eight years, Rob's become the bravest person we know.
And that's the genius of existence. It's constantly alchemizing strangers into friends for life. We love Rob. If you knew him, you'd love Rob, too.  And this act of generosity is a way to love Rob today.  Thank you from all of us, lucky enough to already call Rob our friend. Join the club!
