As many of you know, I have been in Nairobi Kenya for a few months now and will be celebrating my thirty something birthday here on June 17th. Because this is my first birthday in Kenya in a long time I decided to do something crazy and meaningful. Something fun that will also giving back to a local charity. I decided to "Jump for Charity" with Sky Dive Diani. Thats right..... I am jumping out of a perfectly good plane from 12,000 feet above the earth to raise money for a great charity - Vision Africa.
Vision Africa is organization that partners with the community and government stakeholders to ensure children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and impact their community. They do so by:
- Supporting projects that enhance educational opportunities and prepare children to fulfil their potential.
- Contribute towards disadvantage children's material and emotional needs
- Protect the rights of children to have a happy childhood free from neglect, cruelty and exploitation
Their work includes:
Education – Early Years, Primary and Secondary, Afterschool Clubs
Special Needs – Education and holistic care facilities, Vocational Training
Seed of Hope – Training disadvantaged young people in vocational skills, life skills and enterprise or job skills.
Vulnerable Child Support – Working to ensure that children are raised in a safe and nurturing family environment.
My goal is to raise a minimum of $550 which will go a long way in supporting this great charity and all their great efforts . Please check out their website www.vision-africa.org to read more about the charity and Donate! Donate! Donate! Every little bit counts!!
