TentMakers’ Initiative for Free Education

Tentmakers Initiative or TMI, is a small group of friends from different back ground with a common desire of providing out of school children from marginalized communities free access to preparatory education.

We launched our pilot project last March 4, 2018 at Baranggay Budla-an, Talamban, Cebu City with twenty five (25) children. The program aims to prepare them to pass the placement exam and be enrolled for grade one on the succeeding school term. Running this program costs around twenty thousand pesos (Php 20,000) monthly for wages of one (1) teacher, one (assistant), and supplies.

Due to the growing number of children availing the opportunity, we cannot sustain the project with our current fund, which only comes from personal income and donations from few close friends.

We also envision to replicate this program to other locations depending on the growth of funds for this initiative.
