Teenager’s Dream of Going Overseas

In my dreams, I’m looking down at London from the London Eye, running through the lush green fields of Ireland, and witnessing firsthand the breathtaking art of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. Being a high school leader and honor student, I have been accepted as a People to People Student Ambassador representing the United States of America. I have been given the opportunity to travel for nineteen days to several different places in Europe during the summer of 2013, including France, England, Ireland, and Wales. I will be traveling with a delegation of students my age, led by experienced teachers.

Though I am only fourteen, I want to see the world, connect with other people in other cultures, and gain independence only traveling apart from my parents can bring. An experience like this will grant me the privileged opportunity to speak with a member of the British Parliament, visit historical sites, tour famous landmarks, and make a difference through community service overseas. I am particularly interested in spending time with local families as I participate in home stay visits; providing me with a rare insight into local customs and cultures.

This travel experience will give me a global perspective at my age that some people, over a lifetime, never achieve. I know this trip will change me as a person, forever. Please help me fulfill this dream. I have been working diligently with my parents to raise the money needed to attend this trip. I know with hard work, perseverance, faith, and a positive attitude all things are possible. I am determined to reach my goal of raising $7,000 and want to thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and helping me achieve this goal.
