WHO I AM

My name is Rev Jason Allen. I'm going to share my incredibly tragic and sad but in the end inspirational life story. There's more than you can imagine. So, I'm going to give you a condensed version. What I'm about to share has absolutely saved a number of young lives. So, hopefully when it comes all together you'll want to join me in saving our children.

I was abandoned at birth by my biological father (abandonment). I was violently sexually abused from 3-5. I lived in abject poverty. All of these traumas during early childhood are called adverse childhood experiences.

My mother ended up abandoning me during my teenage years for a man. At 19 I was about to enter seminary and I hit a concrete pole head-on at 70 mph throwing me through the windshield and killing my friend. I broke my lower back and was in physical therapy for four years. All this psychological trauma I buried deep and did not think it effected me.

After I finished physical therapy I started school studying psychology and sociology, but the pain controlled me. I couldn't keep a job. I couldn't sleep. After trying every treatment possible the doctors persuaded me to start on pain medication. I've never been one to be into drugs or alcohol, but when I took that opioid I was elated the pain was gone but I noticed something else. It was like a warm hug I'd needed all my life. Before I knew it 10 years of my life had gone by and I was chemically dependent. I couldn't stop.

Then after finishing school in 2007 I was in management at citigroup and broke my neck and injured my spinal cord disabling me for life. I should have been decapitated. It took seven years to be able to walk again.

In 2014 I came off the medication. I finished my theology studies and started a simple Facebook page for teen addicts wanting help. Knowing they'd have to contact me first I'll be honest I was skeptical, but amazing things started to happen.

WHAT I'M TRYING TO DO

What I learned was my story resonates with young people. Just knowing I knew what it was like and what they are going through opened them up. I was blessed to help young people all over the country. We have had a remarkable success rate of over 50% but with my education in psychology I know prevention is the key and prevention means catching the trauma invisible to our eyes that our children walk around with. The trauma is what often leads to addiction and violence.

I want to go to middle and high schools, churches, juvenile detention centers, and anywhere there are at risk youth. If we begin to deal with the trauma in our young people we will begin to tackle the epidemic of overdoses of youth and the violence of places like Chicago and Detroit which are just powderkegs of PTSD. My life was spared for a reason and I will continue to dedicate the rest of my life to helping those I'm uniquely qualified to help. I just need your help, but more importantly they need our help.

We have a brand new website where donations will be listed and how they are used. Please help us actually truly save lives and families from being destroyed.

Yes, I'm an ordained minister, but when it comes to trauma and the manifestations of trauma like addiction and Violence it's all about science and psychology and that is always our approach.
