Hi All -

Many of you may know and for those who don't, our friend Ted Poppe is facing criminal charges in the San Mateo County Superior Court after being arrested for transporting cannibas between two homes in California.  (For more information about Teddy's guidance to grow marijuana for healing purposes, the bust and California marijuana laws see the video link when it's up.)

Up until now, after the arrest in April, Teddy was represented by a private defender, appointed and paid for through a program in San Mateo County, CA, where his arrest and incarceration took place.  Through the court appointed defender, San Mateo County Court has offered Teddy a six month sentence with the need to serve 90 days in a county jail and enter a guilty plea.

Through prayer and guidance and discussion with friends and family, Teddy has been guided to an alternative way of proceeding which has led to consultation with attorney, Jeffrey Hayden of Redwood City, who has also been recognized by CAL NORML, (California National Organisation for the Reform of Marijuana Laws), for his outstanding legal work in the changing landscape of cannabis law reform.

Jeffrey has made himself readily available for communication and has been able to make some recommendations that prior to now have not been considered.

We would very much like to follow this guidance, and retain Mr Hayden's service as Ted's legal representative and make the necessary motions to the court as soon as possible prior to the current trial date which is set for October 21st, 2013.  For this we need some help financially at the moment.

Even though Ted's present court appointed private defender does not feel Ted should be jailed for what has occurred, the feeling and guidance was, after consulation with Mr Hayden, that the correct procedure is to hire Jeffrey and ask for a jury trial with peers where there is a chance that upon hearing the evidence and testimonies, the jurors would be able to look objectively and come to a decision based on the evidence and the facts surrounding the case.

We need to raise around $7,500 to cover legal costs, court costs and transportation/accomodation costs to and from the trial.

There is an immediate need for approximately $4000 to pay for the lawyer's retainer.  And we need the remainder funds as we prepare and approach trial, which has been set for October 21, 2013 but which due to the change in lawyers we hope to postpone so as to prepare for the case.

Whether or not you would like to see Teddy get off or are like some who think, a good stint in jail might do him good, we'd be very grateful for all financail contributions no matter how large or small for the hiring of legal representation and expenses associated with the case.

If you cannot contribute financially but would like to help in some way, perhaps there might be other ways you could such as sharing this request and gogetfunding link with your contacts, or any thoughts, guidance or inspiration that might come to mind that has not already been considered.

Thankyou One and All!!!

I want to take a moment and first thank everyone for the support and help with this! We have retained Jeffery Hayden, Esquire of Redwood  City, California and last Thursday  October 17, he appeared in Superior Court with me and was accepted as my attorney. The jury trial has been. . . . .

#1 - A little more from Teddy - 17 October 2013

Update posted by Annie Liley at 11:40 pm

Read This....   ...and thanks for the vote of confidence. The Founding Fathers of the US have already weighed in and hope some historians will teach the lesson of the importance of hemp/cannabis in the settling of the early colonies and then the the States as the income is what. . . . .
