On March 21st, my sister Meghan received a call from the Georgian

Embassy that her husband Zach, who was there on business for the week,

had been in a very bad car accident. The driver lost control of their

car, flipping it several times as they rolled down a 50 foot ravine and

into a tree.

Two of the five passengers in the car were killed

instantly. Zach was thankfully wearing his seat belt, but he sustained

traumatic brain injuries from the rolling of the car, the impact of the

wreck, and also from the person next to Zach who was not wearing a

seatbelt.

Zach spent one week in the Republic of Georgia while

doctors there saved his life and stabilized him enough that he could be

moved to a facility that specialized in head injuries. On March 29th,

he was transferred via a medical evacuation flight to Vienna, Austria,

while doctors there treated him and stabilized him for the long journey

back to the United States. On April 19th, he was transferred

via medical evacuation back home to the Ohio State University hospital

system in Columbus, Ohio. He remained in their care for a few months,

and was recently transferred to Heartland of Dublin, in Dublin Ohio for

long term care, where he continues to receive around-the-clock medical

care.

Donations will cover medical expenses, including medical

evacuation flights, emergency care, physical therapy and rehabilitation,
