The TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes provides individuals touched by type 1 diabetes (T1D) the opportunity to unite with others with a similar passion, and to raise critical funds for research focused on curing,treating and better preventing T1D. Over 45,000 Canadians walk, share stories, and connect at approximately 70 sites across Canada and become one community with participants in six other countries!
Hi everyone,
I am Liam and I am 10. I have had diabetes for almost half my life now and I am walking to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. A cure for type 1 would mean that I don't have to give myself insulin many times every day, get site changes or poke my fingers. I try to be a regular kid like all my friends, but sometimes I have to take it easy while they still run and play and I miss out on the fun they are having. A cure would mean freedom to me and so many others. Please support Team Liam I will be walking again this year in a different location and all funds that are raised will go to JDRF c/o Team Liam to find a cure.

This is our fourth year fundraising for JDRF. We are the we can achieve anything type%93%94, committed to helping JDRF raise money to fund crucial research into curing, better treating and preventing type 1 diabetes (T1D). Liam was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 6. We have come a long way since his diagnosis. Diabetes doesn%bd%92t just affect Liam, it affects our entire family. Every day is a juggling act from figuring out how many carbs hes eaten to how much insulin he needs to take. Liam just can%92%92t get up and go like everyone else. He needs to check his blood sugar, give himself insulin, make sure his pump is properly working, pack his blood glucose monitor, carry snacks and rescues in case he gets an unforeseen low while playing outside with his buddies. He has to educate his friends about the warning signs of a sugar low and tell them not to be too rough while playing so that his site or CGM sensor dont get knocked out. That%92%92s a lot for a 10 year old to handle. We are walking to find a cure so that no other child has to go through Liam's journey. Join our team and help make a difference. Thank you! Team Liam
