JOIN TEAM JOSH BRANDON - Fighting for a Father's Rights

You may know Josh Brandon from his days on the radio in Tennessee, Georgia or South Carolina. If so, you've heard about his daughter, Mattie Belle, and step-daughters, Emily and Tori. He loves those girls and isn't afraid to share that. Sadly, following his divorce, he has not been able to participate in their lives despite having visitation rights. His ex-wife, has violated the terms of the parenting plan and vistation arrangements that were put in place by the court in Tennessee. Josh left a successful career in radio and his ties to the community in Georgia to move closer to his daughters, and, now in Tennessee, is still being deprived of those rights.

"She can't do that!" "He needs to take her to court!" These outraged statements have been expressed often. In fact, Josh filed a contempt action with the court last year to be able to see his daughters on a regular basis. That case has STILL not been heard by a judge. His ex-wife continues to fight him and to demand that he comply with arbitrary conditions she imposes which have not been ordered by the courts. She repeatedly denies his requests for visitation, requires supervision that is not a condition of visitation, and does not even consistently give him telephone access to his daughters. The girls are being denied the opportunity to have a caring, loving father participating in their lives, and the chance to interact with their grandmother and the rest of Josh's family. This has been going on too long.

Josh took a position selling cars at a dealership in Crossville, TN, in order to be close to his daughters in Knoxville. Despite working non-stop, including every weekend, with few days off, he has not been able to earn the salary he once had in radio. He can no longer afford the amount of child support once ordered in the case, let alone the mounting legal fees he incurs to keep fighting for the right to see his daughters. As his friends, it is frustrating for us to watch such an injustice take place. A caring father should not be deprived of a role in his children's life at their mother's whim. She will win by default if he cannot afford to continue the fight.

This case goes beyond Josh . . . it speaks to the injustice of these types of cases on the non-custodial parent. It is a travesty that a parent with whom the children reside is allowed to deny the other equally deserving parent access to his children. The litigation process to enforce the legal rights of the injured parent is not only costly, but very slow-moving. The injured parent is forced to take on incredible financial burden just to get what is rightfully his.

Unless the balance of legal fees in the case is brought current by December 1, the hearing will not take place, the case will be further delayed and Josh will lose more valuable time with his girls. Despite making his best efforts to come up with the necessary funds, Josh has not been able to raise the balance...or any additional funds that might be needed if further litigation is required. Josh is a proud man who will not ask his friends for financial help, but he has many friends who have expressed their desire to provide assistance. Josh has made a difference in the lives of many people in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia, now let's see if we can make a difference in his. Please join Team Josh Brandon by making a donation through this site and help us end this three year battle with a victory. Maybe this will give hope to and set a precedent for others facing the same fight. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Don't ever give up. It may take time, a lot of faith and a lot of prayers, but I believe it can turn around. And it may seem strange, but try praying for your ex.

Uncertain Future

Update posted by Kathi Williams at 09:15 pm

We're in the last days for our "campaign" for funding and it is clear that this battle will continue although the future is uncertain. We have made great strides -- breaking $1000 in a few short weeks and through countless messages and prayers and support shown by friends. All of. . . . .

  • We've been in the same boat with my husbands ex and her insistence on trying to get him out of her and their daughter's lives. We've struggled, declared bankruptcy and know that we are in a never ending battle. But it's a fight that's worth it! Wish I could help more, and good luck! Dads are important!
