Campaign Story
Hi guys, in January, I am heading to Suva, Fiji to work for two weeks in a volunteer childcare and teaching position.
Almost 30% of the Fijian population is made up of 0-14 year olds, meaning that many parents are forced to work long hours in order to support their families. Kindergartens and schools in Suva are lacking local teachers and local support, as positions are often not very well paid. Travelling to these projects for a local can be expensive and time consuming with traffic congestion in and around the city. Therefore, these facilities are heavily dependent on volunteer assistance.
When I arrive in Fiji, I plan to purchase some books and stationary to bring to these facilities, as they are often lacking in resources. This, alongside flights and accommodation, makes my trip relatively expensive. I aim to raise approx. $800 to go towards this trip, allowing me to make a difference to the lives of children who are less fortunate than us. Thank you in advance for your support!
