Please help support my travels through Kenya and Tanzania, Africa!

Why I want to volunteer teach in Africa:

I have always had a passion for positively influencing others’ lives. I chose teaching as my profession because I couldn’t picture myself enjoying anything else more! I love everything about working with children. I love the spontaneity, the creativity, and the impact I have. I knew that becoming a teacher was a guaranteed way to impact not only the children of today, but also the future. After I have completed one year of teaching English to students in South Korea, I am driven to teach students in Africa. I believe that teaching in Kenya and Tanzania will be the perfect opportunity to continue my mission to touch students’ lives and be influential to students that truly need impacting.

My first volunteering adventure is in Kenya at Great Mercy:

Great Mercy school center offers education for primary school to high school students. It is a community-run school providing education to orphans and other children from disadvantaged backgrounds. They have over 150 pupils and students, both girls and boys, aged between 2 and 17 years old. The school is run on Christian principles, and accepts children regardless of their religion, tribe, ethnicity, or political background.

The children’s center is a solace for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children. The school’s plan is to provide these children with shelter, food, education, and training until they reach the age of eighteen.

Great Mercy also has a community outreach program to help vulnerable widows who are living with H.I.V./AIDS. They are training the women in entrepreneurship to empower them to help provide food for their children.

My second volunteering adventure is in Tanzania at Great Vision English:

Great Vision English in Arusha, Tanzania opened in January 2010. It started with only one class of seven students of all different ages, four girls and three boys. After one term, Great Vision English was able to add two more classes in order to separate the students according to their capability of understanding. Since then, the school has gained a nursery, middle, and pre-unit classes. Great Vision school now has 28 registered students and is still growing!

The goal of Great Vision English is to help children with all kinds of difficult backgrounds in order to achieve a better life.
