Currently I am saving for my post-graduate plans to travel to Peru for 2-3 months to teach English. The NPO I will be working for is called Horizon Peru located in Trujillo, Peru. This non-profit gives local children free education not only in English but in life skills and other interest areas. My goals in life have always included helping others and after studying Latin American culture and the Spanish language I feel this is my opportunity to build these skills outside the classroom. After doing a lot of research this program was by far one of the least expensive and really fit the ideals I wanted for my trip (teaching english in a Spanish speaking country, working with children and adults in a more indigenous and culturally historic country, live near an ocean since I have never been in one and live in a communal setting with other English speaking volunteers). Below I have outlined some of the costs and my plans for funding my trip so that if you do choose to contribute, you know exactly where the money is going!

Plane Ticket to Lima, Peru: ~$900-$1000 for Roundtrip

Bus Ride Lima to Trujillo: $35

Contribution Fee (can be seen as my rent, utility and internet cost but the money is used for upkeep and supplies at the school and home): $212/month = $425 (2 months) or $635 (3 months)

Food/Misc Expenses: ~$500

Total Cost: $1860-$2,170

To help cover this cost I will be selling my moped, saving extra money and applying for scholarships.
