Teaching English Abroad in Bali Indonesia

I have the opportunity to volunteer in Tabanan Bali, Indonesia this summer. This amazing opportunity involves teaching the local children English in order to encourage students to develop a skill that will help them to achieve their future goals. Conversing with fluent, native English speakers greatly improves their language skills, essential for future employment. The explosion of tourism in Bali means the need to speak English has never been greater. Though English is taught in school by the local Balinese teacher, the opportunity to converse with a native, fluent English speaker is invaluable. The presence of an English speaker really benefits the children’s pronunciation and can also help empower local teachers who may be looking for additional assistance with their own education.

With my trip taking place in July 2017, I aim to raise $2,500 enabling me to make a difference to the lives of the children I will be with. This is a volunteer trip, therefore, any donations will go directly towards the cost of the trip. This cost includes a flight to and from Tabanan Bali, meals, living expenses, as well as school supplies to bring with me. School funding and supplies are minimal and I would love to bring over as much supplies and materials as I can.
