Teach People How to Use Their Computers

Introduction

My name is Joseph Crowe. I have been involved with computers since the early days, 1983 to be exact. Well before Windows, in the old black screen and white letters of DOS 3.1. I kept up with computers as a hobby until 1999 when I quit my job and started my own computer services company, Total Computer Solutions (www.tcsco.com). I ran the company successfully until 2013 when I closed the company and moved to the beautiful Oregon Coast. 

I have found that in speaking with people once they find out that I know about computers I am always being asked a multitude of questions about how do I do this or how do I do that. How can I get rid of a virus, how can I attach a file to my email, how can I save a file I received in email. Hence my idea to start a mobile computer teaching service.

The Mission

My mission is to try and teach as many individual’s not only what they want to know about their computer, but what they NEED to know about it. Such as, how to install antivirus software and keep it updated, how to install anti malware program, update and run it to remove any malware or spyware from their computer, how to keep their computer running at top performance, and how to search the internet for specific answers to their questions.

The Plan

The plan is to go to the person’s house to teach them on their own equipment so they are comfortable and won’t worry about whether or not what they learned will work on their computer. I am planning on selling 1 hour blocks of time to cover whatever it is that they want to learn about. I will be building a website with an interactive Google calendar and list the times available so they will be able to select the best time for them, in booking the appointment also they will be required to provide information on what they need to learn or want information on so I can show up fully prepared to answer their questions.

Marketing

My marketing will consist of mainly word of mouth. Like most of the towns on the Oregon coast, Florence is a small community so word of mouth would be the best and most cost effective way of advertising. Every time I speak with someone I will mention the business, I will have business cards made as well as flyers and place small stacks on the counters of local businesses. There are several other small towns close enough that I can advertise in them also.

This is something that I truly believe is needed in this day and age, computers are always changing and people always have questions. I have always provided answers to those questions, this will just allow me to be able to do that more and in an organized fashion. Thank you again.
