Please allow me to introduce you to a special little boy named Isaac Taylor. Isaac is 4 years old and lives in Freedom, WI with his dad & mom, Tommy Taylor & Amanda (Kosmerchock) Taylor, as well as an older sister Autumn, a younger brother Thane & his two dogs. He loves being outside, playing with trucks, tractors, & 4-wheelers.

When Amanda was pregnant with Isaac, she found out that he would have special needs as a child with a heart defect. In December 2008, Isaac was born at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with a heart defect called Tricuspid Atresia. Tricuspid Atresia is when there is not a valve located between the right & left ventricle of the heart. As a result, the right ventricle is small & under developed. There were two major open heart surgeries that Isaac was required to do. Isaac had his first surgery at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee on April 8, 2009, when he was four months old. Isaac’s surgery went very well & he did not have any complications from this surgery & was able to go home soon after the surgery. Isaac had his second surgery on May 8, 2013 & was able to go home on May 16th. On June 10th Isaac was admitted back to Children’s Hospital due to excessive fluid buildup in his lungs. One method to dry up the fluid was to have Isaac fast for days at a time. Ice chips and gum became his best friends! During his stay, Isaac also developed pancreatitis as a result of being on lipids. Unfortunately, the fluid continually returned in Isaac's lungs so he underwent a pracedure call pleurodesis on July 8th. This means that his lungs are now attatched to his chest wall to prevent the fluid from collecting. This tough little guy has experienced countless pokes, scans, x-rays, tests & interrupted sleep. Even though he has been going through all this, he is still in good spirits and is really looking forward to going home!

Tommy and/or Amanda have been at Isaac’s side through his entire stay at Children’s Hospital. Since his second surgery, the family has been at Children’s Hospital for over a month. The unexpected return to the hospital and the recent surgery has been both emotionally and financially challenging for the entire family.

In an effort to ease the burden of the excessive medical bills as well as living expenses, Isaac’s family & friends are hosting a benefit on Saturday, September 14th from 2-7 pm at JJ Maloney’s in Kaukauna. There will be many basket raffles, silent auction items, games for the kids, food, and fun! Stick around for the live music by Half Empty.
Thank you for supporting Isaac & his family!
