Taylor and Cassandra go to Haiti

     It has been our life long dream to do volunteer work in a third world country and our dream has finally come true. "Being the change" is something the two of us have always strived for and through our work with Me to We (a club at UCC) we've been able to be the change in many ways. 

     We now have the opporunity to travel to Haiti and have first hand experience of what the living conditions are like. We are going on this trip through an organization called Hime for Help which was created in 2012 by Emily Hime, a girl from Chatham. Their main objective is to support those in need and help ease suffering in countries that have been faced with natural disasters, disease outbreaks, war, governmental corruption, and/or extreme poverty. Hime For Help works to improve child well-being and to serve people around the world regardless of religion, race, gender or ethnicity.      

     We will be at a children's home called Maison Ke Kontan in the Delma's area of Port Au Prince. We will be there for 2 weeks in August helping with different projects and spending time with the kids. We could be doing crafts, playing games, collecting water, building, teaching the kids, and caring for the kids living there. We are very excited to be able to have this experience and give back to those who don't have the privileges we do. 

     We are so excited to finally be fulfilling this life long dream and can't wait to share our experiences with all of you. Any donations for this trip will be greatly appreciated and if we exceed the amount of the trip (which we hope we do) the extra money will be donated towards the Hime For Help organization to help With the day to day needs of the children's home.
