Campaign Story
The TASK soup kitchen, short for Twaloloka Aid Support and Kindness, is located in Walvis Bay, Namibia. Many small children live here, and they depend on your kindness and generosity.
TASK was founded by Toya Louw and friends in April 2020 to deal with the immediate effects of the Corona shutdown, when many people lost their jobs and their ability to take care of their children. Namibia does not have a social security system, and losing a job means hunger for the whole family and dependants. Within a few days, Toya Louw and her friends put together a team of dedicated home cooks and community distributors who would go out to Twaloloka a few times every week and make sure that all children would get a warm meal.
A few weeks later, the already poor area burnt to the ground, and hundreds of people lost their homes and belongings overnight. Almost a year later, many Twaloloka residents still live in tents, and many children are on their own during the day, when their parents and caretakers go to work.
TASK takes care of those children. Three times a week, Toya and her amazing team prepare big pots of nutritious and delicious warm soup, and they make sure that hundreds of kids get a proper meal in their bellies. They don't need much - they need US500 per week to feed hundreds of young children three times per week.
Please help, every dollar makes a difference.
