Tasha’s medical care

Tasha has a rare genetic condition called Mitochondrial disease. This is a progressive, degenerative condition that has slowly taken over her life. There are no official medical treatments for mito, except for taking a specific mito cocktail of various vitamins and supplements to try and boost mitochondrial function, which Tasha travelled to America for in 2018 to get help with this. There is NO cure! Tasha is 26 and most of her body is affected by mitochondrial disease. She cant see, stand, walk, sit up unaided, eat solid foods or even breathe for herself. She has a tracheostomy and ventilator that breathes for her 24/7. Tasha relies on different tubes and medications to keep her alive. Tasha has gone from a fun, social, hard working girl to being mostly bedridden and in and out of hospital on a monthly basis.

Tasha's medical expenses are extortionate. Between the costs of her medication and now having to pay more for her care, things are adding up and we can't cover it all ourselves. We need help to cover the costs of Tasha's care, without the care at home, she will be forced into residential care, and at the age of 26 with her condition this is the last thing she wants or needs. She needs to be at home with her family.

This fundraiser would help pay towards 1 year of care at home for Tasha, to help her keep her dignity, some independence, and enable her to get out sometimes and get to hospital appointments.
