Tanzanian Volunteer Experience

In the spring of 2018, I will be travelling with a group of nursing students to Moshi in Tanzania, Africa, to volunteer at a Women's Health Centre (Pamoja Tunaweza). This will be a three (3) week experience in which I will have the opportunity to help to provide healthcare assessment, health teaching, and other valuable resources to the local communities. Many of the women in the region have been exposed to poverty and gender-based violence, many of them are affected by HIV/AIDS or other illnesses. We will be taking along not only our personal belongings, but also a large bag each for donations to be made to the people in the area. I would like to be able to take down toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other oral health aids, along with some fun toys (frisbees, balls) for the local children. Every little bit helps, and I appreciate it so very much!
