I have been given the amazing opportunity to visit Africa this summer and volunteer to teach at the Lerang’wa Primary School, West Kilimanjaro, organised by my school, Caterham.
Caterham School has a long standing relationship with the Lerang’wa School and every year a team of students are invited to teach a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Music, PE, Art and Design to the children. We will be staying in the village and gaining first hand experience of life at the school. I'll be teaching PE, which should be fun but daunting looking after 40 children!
As part of this expedition, I am part of the school fundraising team which is aiming to raise £4,000, to help improve the quality and nutrition of the food provided to the children. We've been running fundraising events at school and so far have managed raised £1,600, so we hope we can hit our target by July.

Separately, I need to raise money to help pay for my travel and other trip expenses. So I've decided to take on two challenges in March and April to help raise funds for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
The two challenges are:-
Event One: Hyde Park 10km Run - March 25th COMPLETED (in 54 minutes)
Event Two: 2 miles Swim - May (date tbc)
It would be amazing if you are able to support me by sponsoring me for these two events. These will both be a big challenge for me (I've never run 5km before or swam more than 1km), so I'm training hard.
The money raised will go towards my travel costs. Any money I manage to raise over the target will go towards the Lerang’wa School fund.
Thank you, Mia
p.s. Pls use paypal (the account is in my Dad's name), as this is the easiest way to keep the money raised in one place
