Tanzania 2016

I'm a 18 year old fun-loving caring woman, who would love to embark my career in medical practice. I am going to study children's nursing and midwifery later in life but first I want to gain the knowledge and experience of working elsewhere helping those less fortunate.

In July 2016, for three weeks I shall be embarking on a volunteering placement in Tanzania at a hospital/maternity clinic.

Like many African countries, Tanzania faces an acute shortage of health care workers. Low pay, poor working conditions and limited training programmes contribute to the problem, whilst the rising burden of HIV/AIDS treatment greatly amplifies the situation. I shall be volunteering with Plan my Gap Year to assist within a place of medical practice to help to bring new life in the world, support the unwell and those requiring end of life love and care.

I have always aspired to work in another country to help others, especially those who require medical attention. Tanzania is an undeveloped country, therefore working alongside those medical professionals, I will be making a difference to their lives and the unwell. As I intend to study nursing in September 2016, I believe this will grant me an amazing experience as well as life changing skills and knowledge. I intend to make a difference, so please help me do so.

I have already been chosen to take part in this amazing self-funding, volunteer programme; and I need to fundraise in order for me to go. My flights, the placement - accommodation, scrubs, air-port pickup and food included - registration fees, transport, visas, insurance, CRB, air-port return and volunteer work permit will cost around £2000.

I would love to make a huge difference to those less fortunate than myself and I would love and appreciate for all my friends and family to support me on this amazing journey.
