Campaign Story
It's called Karugano Nyenda, which translates to 'A Story I Love'. It's an initiative that seeks to assist young Kenyan authors, who are mostly turning to self publishing, market their books, sell their books and get the recognition they deserve, through events like book fairs and Writer's open mic sessions. We already held our 1st open mic on 27th April, 2019 successfully, but it was expensive and the ticket costs barely covered the operational costs.
Karugano Nyenda seeks to bring back the glory of Kenyan authors to a time like that of Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Grace Ogot and the late Binyavanga Wainaina. It also, in the long term, seeks to promote literacy, a reading culture and encourage more Literary artists to publish their work and make something of their lives.
We are looking for funding to hold a Book Fair, and 2nd Writer's Open Mic function. We also seek funds to get our own website domain.
You can check out our Facebook page 'Karugano Nyenda' or our website that is still a work in progress here; https://karuganonyenda.wixsite.com/kenya
Your funding us will make a great difference and impact the lives of many potentially great Kenyan authors. If you would like to know more, please email me on [email protected] or [email protected]
