It is unfortunate that some of my relatives were born with hearing difficulties due to genetic problems they had and without having enough scientific development to allow the genetic diagnosis and treatment at that time, they completely lost their ability to hear and thus speak!

Hi, I'm Saja Almabhouh and I’m a senior university student studying biotechnology.

Since I was a kid, I have loved science and enjoyed solving problems, till being an adult, I became very interested in scientific research, so I started one step at a time in the field of genetics and chose biotechnology to be my major, which will give me a deeper understanding of genetics and thus to my relative’s problems.

One of the challenges I faced to understand scientific papers is the English language, and being the person who loves challenges, I started my journey in studying the English language where I won a two-year scholarship to study the language intensively.

In my first university year, I joined the Fill the Gap program, which main goal is to let students to get the most out of their academic study. It gave me mentoring towards more professional steps to take and to start studying Bioinformatics which is a very complex and advanced field of biotechnology.

Why I’m passionate about studying such a difficult topic is because I’ve always had a dream to help people with hearing difficulties to hear the beautiful sounds of our world

This year, I’m a step closer to fulfilling my passion. At one of the world’s leading research labs in Bioinformatics and in one of the most competitive programs to get admitted to, I was selected for their research program from more than 700 applicants, and only 7 students were selected!

CRG Institute has chosen me for their summer internship program and has granted me a partial scholarship that covers 30% of my education tuition.

The training will take a period of two months, I'll need about 12$ for food daily...which means 720$, 1500$ for two months housing, 700$ for visa and travel costs, 300$ for health insurance, and finally 200$ as the website advises to add 5% over the total amount requested

You too can help to create a positive impact on the lives of those people by helping me achieve my calling and contributing to my campaign. Join our collaboration on making life more beautiful for everyone.
