Take My Hand, Give A Hand

This is a known fact that homelessness is becoming a major problem that increases year by year. The huge number of people who are affected by this serious plaque is now exceeds 4 million in the U.S. alone, and children have contributeto one fourth of that number. As this number of the homeless grows rapidly, scarcity of resources increase day to day. People struggle to get basic services through shelters. Take My Hand-Give A Hand aim is to help solve this major problem.

I think everyone matters, Women, Children and Men.

Hello my name is Henry and about 4 months ago I would never have in my wildest dreams be where I am in today, my fiance and her two daughters and I are homeless, yes homeless not by choice but by circumstances beyond our control. We have spent the last 4 months trying to get a home a job and a car, somthing people do not realize and take advantage of in their every day life. We have applied to state aid and because we are not married as of yet we do not qualify for certain programs, that was okay for us because food stamps and cash aid help with our daily needs she had some and I had some so we were good for food and basic necessaties. You really don't know how big this homelessness is until you are there living it. Both my fiance and I along with her teenage daughters tried to save some sort of normalcy while staying in motels for the past 4 months, we have gone to all of the shelters and they agencies recommended for people who are in need and we did everything we were required to do. We sit there for hours waiting for our turn and when we get there we are given a yes you qualify for transitional housing, imagine how excited we were finally a place. we were excited until we heard the infamous word"but" Our hearts sank and we said what? Thye said we were going to be put on a list and when an opening comes up we will have a change to get in. The wait was two years. I said two years? the clerk said yes you are not the only one who needs housing, I told her yes we understand but you did not say on the websote or anywhere that their is a waiting list for 2 years. Nevertheless we took it. We went back to the motel and we had to decide what we are going to do. We applied at all of the local outlets, restuarants, malls , gas staions, fast food joints everything we could find, we went to the county and the state offices and fill out all the paperwork needed. After it was all said and done and all the applications finished, no word from anyone,not even a sorry we hired someone else, anybody been there done that? I know a few of you have reading this. So we sit in the motel as our savings dwindle , now finally 4 months later we both have jobs, little pay but minimum wage is better than nothing

I started this fundraiser to stop that from happening to every man, woman and child who needs a hand. My fund raiser is not for glory or fame but to help those who are in need and there is no one left to help.

My goal is to raise 5,000 dollars so we can have a small house to move into and start our own company to help people like us to show them the straight up truth on al of the counties so called programs. We want to raise enough so that people in need will have a place to stay for a short period of time. I ask to give one dollar for every 20 you spend in a week thats les than 15 cents a day to help family get a hand up. If you go to church and donate, or buy a pack of gum, a dollar can go a long way now that there are dollar stores to help. I also ask for sponsors in this cause, I will alert the media to what you have done and give praise to your efforts. Enough dollars donated will provide shelter food, basic needs for the man woman or family you see on the corners asking for help. They may be in real trouble or not but as you sit in you car you have to give them the benefit of the doubt. If you cannot give to the ones who need it, when do you give? Christmas seems to be the only time we see hand outs. I will continue to try and help my future family. Who will be the first to give a dollar? I hope all the families that are still waiting, can be assured I will not give up on finding a solution to this problem. If you can't donate help find someone a job or offer someone a job, you might be surprised at some of the smart talent there is on the streets. Take a chance and make someones life a little better.
