WHO ARE WE:

We are a team of final year students from NTU School of Art, Design & Media, working on our thesis film, Take Me Home. We are sourcing for possible ways to fund our film and it would be our honour to receive your contribution to make this film a reality.

THE STORY:

It is grandma’s 80th birthday and because of a rash decision, Joey’s family finds themselves on a holiday in Kuala Lumpur that they could barely afford in the first place.

Their holiday is on a downward spiral when grandma dies. Family ties are not only strained but are now in shambles knowing that they do not have a wet weather plan for a $15,000 coffin import fee. They are forced to put their grief on hold and their differences aside, while they conspire a plan to smuggle the corpse across the border.

WHY WE WANT TO MAKE THIS FILM:

Take Me Home is a comedy where a coming-of-age teenager struggles to accept the differences in her family whilst they manoeuvre their way through a crime together.

The audience is offered a tragic perspective of characters who missed their boat on cherishing grandma’s presence. The objective of the film questions expectations of a family. It also questions humanity’s morals in times of love and desperation. Grandma’s death is a tragedy that triggered a journey of acceptance and second chances for a family who has lost hope.

It features a local story and perspective, while exploring what constitutes a Singaporean family, even though there may be no fixed answer to this case-study. While Joey learns what it means to have and be family, the audience gets offered a perspective of what it means to be Singaporean.

Thank you and we look forward to making this film with your help and utmost support. Do look forward to our film, Take Me Home.
