My father is a proud fish vendor. He gets up real early in the morning, prepares his stuff and goes straight to Pasil Market to catch a good deal of "angkat" fish to sell for the day, and pedals his way to his many "suki", waiting for him, one house after the other, rain or shine.
And amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Enhanced Community Quarantine that has been imposed, he is left with the dilemma, to work or not to work.
I strongly feel that many, if not all, is faced with the same predicament; from the time we close our eyes to sleep at night, and the moment we open them to wake up in the morning, to work or not to work.
If, and only if, our masses, the public, has a CHOICE, I'm sure, they would've stayed in the comforts of their own homes, but NO, they have NO CHOICE. They need to make a living and feed their families.
So, yes, what about them? What about the balut vendors? What about the taho peddlers, your beloved "Manong Taho" vendor? What about the many other street food vendors? What about the ahentes who sell any kind of stuff from bed foams, to decorative frames, to dish cabinets, to shorts, pajamas, curtains, etc? What about the "sikad" drivers? What about the fish peddlers, like my father?
Please, let us care for them. Let us all help one another in this battle.
All funds will be used to purchase rice, goodies for food packs, disinfectant alcohol, washable face masks and will be distributed to our peddlers "Manlalako", and their families in the city of Cebu and nearby communities.
Truly, a little help goes a long way.
