#SYblings

We are Sophia, Josh, Joff, and Simone, also known as the Syblings.

Last March, our grandma was diagnosed with the deadly virus that is still currently troubling everyone around the globe. We never would’ve thought that our family would downright be affected by this considering our family’s good health history and this is when we realized just how precious our time together is. During those days were the most difficult, we would hear our mom’s muffled sobs; how we, as a family, who lived in the same house had to be separated from each other for weeks. It was anxiety inducing especially at the initial moment when the news was released and no hospital would admit her.

We were lucky enough to have found Metropolitan Medical Center who willingly extended a hand to our family and luckily, with their help and in God’s glory, our grandma is almost at her prime. We thank God for this fortune as she is included in the vulnerable population which made this even harder for us to cope with. There were so much realizations during this period; how time is so complex and short, and that the people we started from will journey with us from start to end and that will always be family.

Because of our big family and Frontline Feeders PH, we were able to find many different hospitals and it is because of our strength in numbers that we decided to embark on this feeding program for our dear frontliners.

Since April 22, 2020, we have served 1,200 meals and committed 2,500 meals in the following weeks. We plan to do this until our classes resume.

Each meal costs Php50.00; it consists of rice, a meat viand and side toppings (either egg or vegetables). All donations are allocated for the cost of the ingredients, containers, utensils and utilities. Each plastic container that is to be sent out and donated has a respective cartoon character artwork and special message written and drawn by Simone which she says brings "happiness and lakas ng loob (motivation)".

We are incredibly indebted to our frontliners as they stand in the middle of all this chaos with multiple risks to take. They are harboring a sacrifice that is so challenging for anyone ordinary to willingly take on and this is why we call them our heroes.

No amount is too big or small as any amount will surely guarantee a smile on their faces.

Our effort has been recognized by Ms. Gretchen Ho in her blog and will also be featured in ABS-CBN's TV Patrol. Please check the link below.
