Nintendo Switch for Zack!

Hello there! My plan is to get my friend Zack Siek a Nintendo Switch along with a game. I've come up with a custom setup that would help him be able to play.

Backstory

I've been looking for ways Zack can play the Switch without needing to use standard controllers since he has spinal muscular atrophy. After looking into lots of different setups, I chose a special device that allows inputs from a computer. I bought several different devices needed to get it working with the Switch. In addition, I found a way to use a wireless mini keyboard as an extra controller so he can have a two-handed setup.

Setup

The setup is fairly straightforward and looks like this:

A mini keyboard is used because Windows easily recognizes it as an input device, and it can be used as controller. The hard plastic keys are easy to navigate between. Also, any key can be mapped to a controller button.

The first device below is called a CronusMAX PLUS, which plugs directly into the computer. It takes computer inputs and then the second device converts those inputs to something the Switch understands.

From there I use a 10ft USB extension cable to make reaching the Switch easy.

I have done extensive testing and everything works great. The best thing about the input device is that I can write code to have it do special functions! I can program it to hold down several buttons at once, perform specific commands, and more. Any game can have tailored code to make it more accessible and easier to play.

All of these devices are ready to be packed up and and sent to Zack.

Cost Breakdown

The final goal is $397. I will purchase the Switch from Target.com (5% discount) and use free shipping to send the Switch directly to Zack. I have a 20% discount on games at Best Buy and will have a game shipped to him.

The costs are calculated as follows -

Nintendo Switch: $284.99 + Switch game: $47.99 = $332.98

+ 6% sales tax + GoGetFunding fees

Grand total: $397

(In the event that extra money is received, it will be transferred over to Zack.)
