Swindon Anarchists Need A Banner!

It’s been a busy year for Swindon Anarchists! Over the last 12 months, we’ve been hosting well attended meetings, organising local protests against workfare, organising transport to anti-fascist demos, opposing the badger cull and more, as well as getting involved in numerous local projects and initiatives.

As a next step, we want to build ourselves into a group than can continue to take increasingly effective action to organise with local people to resist austerity, fascism and all forms of oppression and exploitation in our community.

We are a group that is high on energy, but low on funds, so we’re asking you for a donation to help us buy a banner. We think this will make us more visible at local events and help to cement us as a permanent feature in Swindon.

In this time of brutal attacks on working-class people, we are finding that our ideas and actions are more relevant than ever and are receiving increasing support from local people. Far from standing for chaos, anarchism is the idea that capitalism and the state work in the interests of the rich and powerful and that ordinary people are better off running society for themselves. Day to day, anarchists believe in using direct action, from strikes to protests, occupations and solidarity campaigns as well as organising democratically to change society. Those are ideas we want to spread far and wide!

An image of the banner we’re raising money for is attached, and the cost will be £44.30 from discountbannerprinting.co.uk. We will also need banner poles, which are £16 for the pair.

Any donations over £60.30 will go towards funding our first run of leaflets, which we will be distributing at the Swindon Radical Bookfair on Saturday September 19^th.
