Sutherland was hit by an extreme drought since April 2014. Farmers are struggling to feed their sheep. They were already forced to lessen their sheep stock to counter extreme feeding costs. This year the drought hit the Sutherland district with even more force. There are no natural grazing left and the sheep only depend on fodder. The costs to keep on farming is very high and farmers are accumulating dept. The cost of feeding a sheep is $63 a year. Your donations will help feed those sheep and to keep farmers and their workers on the farms as everyone is depending on the income from the sheep. Donations will go partly to buy fodder to provide food for the sheep and partly to help create income possibilities (Save the sheep products). Assistance will be given to communities across the Karoo to help them stay afloat.
