Sus running the GC Marathon for Yoga & Sport with Refugees

Hello friends,

This year I am running the Gold Coast Marathon. I spent the 2019 summer running with the Yoga& Sport with Refugees family and now hope to raise some funds to send back to them in Greece.

The NGO Yoga & Sport with Refugees empowers refugees through yoga, running, martial arts, dance, and other sports. Started back in 2017, YSWR has served over seven thousand people.

Doing sports together with one goal: making people happy and strong, because in these difficult circumstances doing sports is a solution to keeping healthy, creating community and purpose. 🙏🏾

Over the past 4 years the organisation has grown with the vision community is the heart and soul of the project. The refugee community not only participates but they are the trainers, the coaches and the coordinators. 🔥

Moussa Amiri, one of our most dedicated runners, in the team since November 2019, says:

"In our teams, we don't care where someone comes from. We train all together. Other people can say what they want, but our team is a family, and that makes us very happy."

YSWR activities break ethnic and religious barriers, creating a safe meeting space where everyone can participate.

The NGO was created as a response to the Mediterranean humanitarian crisis, in which thousands of people fleeing the war risk their lives to reach European coasts. These people are abandoned and isolated in southern Europe, closed in refugee camps that have inhuman conditions with limited support.

YSWR is 100 % funded by private donations. Your donation will go to these projects, the buildings which provide a safe space, to the teachers to help their students with food & the material for sport: boxing gloves, bodybuilding equipment, running shoes, shorts, shirts, jump ropes, elastics, swimwear, yoga mats, etc.
