Campaign Story
My name is Yolanda Beach-Walton. I am the chief executive officer and founder of Survivors of Domestic Violence Resource Center (SDVRC). SDVRC is a non-profit organization, devoted to making a difference in women’s lives by restoring hope and peace. Our mission is to reduce the incidence and minimize the impact of domestic violence and sexual abuse in our community through education, advocacy and referrals to the most appropriate and effective programs and services within our community. SDVRC aims to educate and raise awareness of the problems of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in order to break cycles of abuse.
I am a very passionate advocate for the victims of domestic violence, a “silent” crime that too often goes unnoticed. A survivor myself, I know firsthand about the fear, anxiety, pain and self-doubt that a victim experiences. I escaped my 20-year marriage of physical and mental abuse and been committed ever since to helping other victims. That’s why I’m working with the cast of the award-winning stage play, "A Change Is Gonna Come,” playing at the THEARC Theater in Washington, DC on April 22 & 23, 2016. Our director and award-winning playwright, Ms. Vickie L. Evans, and the cast of the stage play are “Speaking Out” against domestic violence. We are actually “WALKING On FAITH” to have a successful production.
THIS IS NOT A PAID CAST - WE ARE DRIVEN BY PASSION!
I'm
starting this campaign to help us cover all of the expenses of the production.
Our cast members are not paid. The funds are needed to cover the cast hotel and
travel expenses, visual aids, printing supplies, musicians, stage manager and
other necessities.
Our goal is $5,000. This
money allows us to educate those who are unaware of domestic violence, as well
as inspire those who are victims but are afraid to speak out.
Today, we are asking you to become involved by supporting us either by attending the stage play in DC or by making a donation. To support us by attending the event, you may purchase the tickets now at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/award-winning-stage-p....
If you want to know more about our stage plays and our nonprofit organizations contact Ms. Vickie L. Evans via email:[email protected] and visit the websites at: http://www.forgiven2.com and http://www.pals4life.net. Performing Arts and Literary Society (PALS) is a 501(c)3 public charity that produces quality stage plays and literature that inspires, raises awareness, educates and advocates for social justice and personal development.

What Is A Safety Plan?
Update posted by Yolanda Walton at 01:10 pmA safety plan is a personalized plan that a victim create ways to remain safe while in an abusive relationship, while they’re planning to leave and after the individual leave. A victim of domestic violence is most at risk during incidents of violence and when attempting to leave the abuser,. . . . .
