I am fundraising money to volunteer in an orphanage in Ghana from 3rd July till 24th July 2016. I will be working in Kumasi Children’s Home with part of Plan My Gap Year organisation. This orphanage is very under resourced and in need of volunteer assistance. I will be working alongside staff members and other volunteers to assist with general childcare, daily operational running of the orphanage and assisting with teaching. I will also be given the opportunity to initiate my own activities by organising games and structural activities for the children.
I will be volunteering with three other girls from Leeds Beckett University: Melody Peterson, Naomi Holland and Abbie Woodward.
In order to fundraise we will be getting involved in different activities such as:
- Abseiling – down Leeds Beckett University 10 storey high (Portland) Building
- Numerous cake sales - e.g. At the Foundry Church, Widnes
- Bag Packing at supermarkets
plus many more activities to come.
