Surgery to heal broken foot

Hey there!

My name is Deeda. I moved to Thailand after graduating high school in the United States to gain life experience, to volunteer teaching Thai kids, to have fun and to learn much about our global society. After about three months of getting used to living in this wonderful country my boyfriend and I were riding on a moped, which is how most people get around here, when we crashed, breaking my foot. This accident was from braking too quickly on a sandy section of highway following a local Thai driver for directions. After going to the hospital and seeing x-rays we got in contact with one of the best orthopedic foot surgeons in Thailand. High quality medical care is available here for much cheaper than the United States but still we cannot afford to pay for the two surgeries needed to fully heal my foot. The first surgery I got is healing well and the second surgery, scheduled in August, is to remove the hardware ( screws and wires ) holding my bones in place as they rejoin. My dad helped me pay for the first surgery with the money he had saved throughout the year being a school teacher, but this is all the money my parents have to help me. The remainder of the money owed to finish paying for these surgeries is estimated at $4000. Being two fresh high school grads my boyfriend and I came out here with just enough savings to rent a house and pay for our visas but not enough to cover an accident like this. My boyfriend has a job teaching English but the Thai wages are not enough to save money for this type of expense. Because we are not able to pay for this ourselves I am asking others to help us to overcome this setback we have encountered. If you have finances to spare please consider donating.
