Surgery for Richard

My dad, Richard, is an amazing man.  He has always been a wonderful father.  He would never ask for help, and doesn't know that I'm doing this on his behalf, but he deserves better (as I know many others do) than what he's been dealt.  My dad is a 66 year old Vietnam Veteran who has spent the majority of his life working at the local Verteran's Home in our home town.  He has loved being up there and working on a daily basis with other men and woman who have served our country.  In his life, he has already had prostate cancer, and is now faced with cancer again.  Last year, he was diagnosed with Leukemia.  Doctors were hopeful that chemo shots and blood transfusions every once in awhile would be just what he needed.....and it worked......for awhile.  Eventually he started needing more and more transfusions and his doctor has now told him that his only hope is going to be a bone marrow transplant.  They said that without it, the chemo and transfusions would eventually stop working all together.  The problem is that neither his or my mom's insurance will pay for the surgery because they say he's too old!  I don't understand how a 66 year old man could be considered too old for surgery!!  Needless to say, that while my family and I would do anything for our father, none of us has anything even close to the $200,000+ laying around that it would cost to obtain the surgery for my dad.  I would sell everything I owned if it would help, but it wouldn't even make a dent in the large sum needed.  I know that most of the people reading this don't know me and my family, don't know my dad, but I'm asking for your help anyway.  Without it, my dad will lose this fight and I will lose the greatest man that I have ever known... Anything you are willing to donate would not only be appreciated, but would make a huge difference.  Thank you!!!
