Hello, my name is Jen, and I need your help fulfilling my dream of becoming an interpreter or translator in Japan.
Currently I am living in Japan as a Language Student. A while ago I came here with an ex, and after leaving a toxic situation with him, I was also left with not much. So then it was a now or never situation, give Japan a proper go, or go home. So I decided why not give Japan a proper go? Saved enough to get my own apartment, and saved the rest toward entering a language school and learning Japanese.
My current situation is as a full-time Japanese Language Student at a local university. While working part-time as an English Teacher. At the moment, teaching young children every afternoon/evening after I finish my language studies for the day. Then after finishing work, I go home to study Japanese, and do my homework assignments. It's been a hectic life style, but I am enjoying it, and the more I put in, the more I can see my future aspirations could become a reality.
During this time as a Language Student I realized I want go to university (finally), earn a degree/diploma here in Japan, and work as a translator or interpreter in the future, or perhaps even work as a private tour guide (I love working and sharing experiences with people). But to achieve this it means I need to attend school full-time (9AM-5PM days) and earn a degree, while also studying in a language I don't fully grasp yet until hopefully one day I can speak fluently and beautifully just like a regular Japanese person can.
If I can make it to school (with your help), it means evenings would be spent studying the days contents, homework assignments, and preparation for the next days classes. Unfortunately this means I will have to give up my teaching position which I adore entirely. I will miss my students dearly, but I need to look to my future. If I can get through this time and graduate, I will be able to live and work in Japan, and hopefully see my young students again.
Unfortunately I am also running out of time on my current visa.. it's become a now or never situation. So now that the my dream has been decided, I need your help to make it come true.
Hopefully in having more time to study, I'll also have more time to share with good people, and perhaps can keep everyone updated on my experiences here in Japan be it to do with Culture, Study, or general life here. I am not sure if anyone would be interested in my story. But I'd be happy to share it if anyone would like to hear. And perhaps in the future I could act as your tour guide if you ever have the chance to visit Japan. Now that would be something special. I've come to really love my time in Japan, and I hope I can share experiences here with you and others from now and in the future.
