Supporting Kep Kids

I'm a long term volunteer teacher in the beautiful coastal town of Kep, Cambodia working within the Cambodian public school system (children who cannot afford a private education). Most of the children living in the Kep Province are living in extreme poverty and their families are often unable to afford the costs of sending them to school. Additionally, many of the students are orphans without any family support system at all.  I see first hand that the children are lacking even the most basic school supplies. Their needs include textbooks ($1.25 each), writing paper ($1.50 pack of 6 tablets), notebooks (.75), pencils (.10), school uniforms ($4.00), etc., 

The overall goal of the "Supporting Kep Kids" project is to open a private education center where the students can receive a Western style education at little or no cost to their families, available to all of the children in Kep. Including and most importantly, the children who work on the streets in order to help provide for their families.  It is my strong belief that every child has the right to happiness, health and a quality education.

By Supporting Kep Kids, you are helping to provide educational materials and sports equipment for both the students and the teachers. The teachers in Kep are paid an extremely low wage (average $80 month) and cannot afford to purchase the supplies that they desperately need. The short term goal is to provide the children with additional learning materials, tutoring services, sports equipment, and the basic nutritional support needed to further their education and healthy development. The long term goal is to provide the students with an affordable (little or no cost) private education.

I remind my students everyday, "that no dream is too big!" and I have poured my heart and soul into providing them with the education and the confidence that they need and deserve to achieve their dreams.
