I'll try and keep this short and sweet...
Despite fast development and heightened tourism, Bali is still a very undeveloped island with a lot of poor communities. Tianyar is an area on the North Coast where the main source of income comes from fishing and farming but still many struggle financially.
The majority of childcare and kindergarten services are not free and so many are not able to afford to send their children to a kindergarten, let alone one that provides a good level of care. This not only impacts the child education but often means the parents are unable to work as they have to look after the children during the day.
Due to the spike in tourism, being able to speak English is extremely important without that level of education it hinders the local residents from earning a better income. It is in pre-school where people are most receptive to picking up a foreign language. With that in mind the team at Mighty Roar have built a kindergarten for the community that offers free childcare to everyone in the village and surrounding areas.
In March this year I will be volunteering at this Kindergarten, complementing and assisting the work of the local staff members, ensuring the children receive all of the attention and support that they deserve. On top of this, I will spend a lot of time socialising with the children alongside the other volunteers, which will boost their confidence and also dramatically improve their conversational English.
I created this campaign to raise funds to cover the Volunteer fees of £180 all of which goes towards the local team in Bali to structure this programme. The additional money raised will then go towards purchasing stationary and resources for the children to give them when I arrive at the kindergarten to aid their learning experience.
