Supporting Baby Superman

Dearest friends and loved ones,

Please spare me a minute of your time to read Kal-el's story. My son. My Baby Superman.

Kal-El was brought to this world healthy on May 1, 2014. Four (4) months later, he was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia - a rare liver disease. The only cure for this disease is a liver transplant. With the help of family, friends, and people with kind hearts, Kal-el underwent the surgical procedure when he was 1 year old and it was successful.

When Kal-el turned 2 years old, I noticed that he was not talking. Though I am fully aware that every child is unique and will develop at their own pace, I brought him to a specialist. After a number of tests and series of check-ups, Kal-el was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) - a term used when a child takes longer to reach a certain milestone. Since then, he was home-schooled and slowly learning.

Now that he is already 4 years old, I tried enrolling him in a preschool. I immediately noticed how he is as a learner and how hard it is for him cope with children his age. I brought him back to his Developmental Paediatrician and soon after, he was diagnosed to have Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD.

I was advised to send Kal-El to therapies but I am hesitant because it is very costly. If ever, we need to spend a minimum of Php700.00 (~$14.00) per session. He needs to attend sessions 3 times a week for 6 months or so. Doing the math of this, sending him to such is way beyond our means.

Currently, I am a full time mother and is dependent to my husband’s monthly income. I am trying to fit his salary for our home bills and Kal-El’s post-liver transplant medications and Kal-el attending therapies would mean additional expenses.

In behalf of Kal-el and my family, I am again asking for your support for our baby superman. We will greatly appreciate any amount you can give to help us send him to therapies.
