Hello everyone, we are David and Shaokai and we are currently volunteering in Arusha, Tanzania to support a local vet, Dr. Evarest Maguo, who provides free veterinary services for abandoned animals and to animals of families who are unable to pay.
Elang’ata agrovet services is a facility of Agriculture, Veterinary, and Environment services with a small clinic and a shelter for homeless dogs.
The activities we do here are vaccinating and taking care of sick animals (cows, dogs, cats, chickens and goats…) and helping abandoned puppies and adult dogs at the shelter. We also travel around Arusha to teach basic animal welfare practices to the local community in order to improve the lives of animals.
Providing free vet services to families in need supports communities to generate sustainable income in the agricultural based economy of Arusha.
We are setting up this fundraiser to improve the animal welfare program in order to create a better environment for animals that need help. We would like to buy for example vaccines and treatments for animals without owners who can afford to pay.
We recently rescued four puppies from the street, their mother had no owner to take care of the puppies. Only the wealthy can afford to take care of dogs as pets in Tanzania, and as such these puppies are in need of vaccines and basic commodities until they can be adopted. We already bought some supplies out of our own pockets which have greatly improved their condition. With community support, they can be cared for until ready for adoption.
Dr. Maguo works tirelessly to improve animal welfare in Tanzania, donating many hours of his time to the community. Even the smallest donation could help to create a better life for the animals in Arusha and in the small villages around here, so we really hope you'll considering donating something. To put into perspective, $5 can buy a rabies vaccine for one dog.
Thank you for taking time to read this and we are looking forward to show to all of you all the improvement of this Animal Welfare program!
