Amy comes from Asia, she is a great person. Anyone who has met her knows she is a hardworking, reliable, kind student. She's also totally dedicated and focused on her life's mission - caring for people around her, especially the disadvantaged groups. We used to volunteer together at the Red Cross and help the refugee community.
She had a difficult childhood. Because she is a girl, she did not feel welcome as a child. In her national culture, parents prefer a son over a daughter. Therefore, her parents were very harsh on her. She feels anger towards them and left home at the age of 18. She does not have any contact with her family anymore. She worked for a number of years in her own country to save for her studies. Currently, she has used up all her funds to study in New Zealand and she is worrying that she would not have enough money for another year of tuition fees at University.
In the past few months, she tried to commit suicide many times, but fortunately she was noticed in time. Due to ongoing difficulties with severe depression and anxiety with suicidal ideation, she has to stop her study and is referred to acute care. she has trailed various medications however they cause serious side effects which worsen to her situation. Isolation, loneliness, stressors including finance, study difficulties, cultural differences and a past history of trauma all contribute to her current difficulties.
This is such a hard time and financial burden to Amy. She is in urgent need of your kindest help and support.
Thank you to everyone for considering supporting Amy as she journeys towards full recovery and graduates from university.
Not only the life is precious, knowledge is also important. Hope we can help her to overcome obstacles and reach her potential.
