Inese Galante charity Foundaton believes that music is a universal form of language that facilitates integration of various strata of society as well as various nationalities within their respective countries and beyond their borders. Therefore, the fund strives to facilitate culture education through the art of music and culture exchange for the benefit of society.
The annual competition of young classical music performers “Talents of Inese Galante ” (IGT) founded by Inese Galante - world famous Latvian opera singer, takes place in four categories – singing, keyboard instrument performance, string instrument performance and wind /percussion instrument performance. It is organized by Inese Galante charity Foundation in collaboration with Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA). The main objectives of the competition are to discover the young and talented classical music performers worldwide, to encourage the interest of children and youth in classical music, to support the professional activities of young artists, to further develop their professional skills and stage experience, as well as to motivate them for further studies in their selected field of music.
During the last 8 years a lot of Inese Galante talents won world famous music competitions, started performing as soloists in different opera houses and stages worldwide.
The Inese Galante charity Foundation makes continuous efforts to provide much-needed professional experience to IGT participants and competitors of international stages. Experience on big stages with worldwide music stars provides immeasurable experience and example for music as profession for all life! The competition jury consists of professional artists and academic music tutors, including specialists for each competition category from the academic staff of known music academies - this link with higher education institution enables timely discovery of young talents and facilitates their guidance from an early stage of artistic development. All prizewinners receive monetary prizes, as well as additional stipends towards professional development. The competition also extends its support to promising young artists, whose professional skills are not yet sufficient for the final round – selected participants receive support in form of scholarships for studies with high-class professionals, as well as grants for purchasing of instruments,reimbursement of travel costs to events with added pedagogical value (masterclasses, concerts, workshops), etc.
Inese Galante charity Foundation frequently organizes the competition and the concerts in a internet- and presents forms, masterclasses of internationally renowned artists in Latvia, bringing expert tuition to prizewinners and selected competition participants, and exposing masterclass audiences (pupils, teachers, students, etc.) to world-class personalities. These masterclasses provide additional motivation to the young artists for ceaseless development and international quest for professional knowledge. The wide scope of financial and professional aid provided by the competition attracts great interest from applicants and general society. Each year the final round is broadcasted via Internet to tens of thousands of people. The audience is able to vote for their favorite, over 70`000 international fans of classical music performance vote for their favorite participant each year.
In addition to supporting the young talents, the competition also appreciates the hard work of their teachers, who mentally and professionally prepare the young talents. During the recent years the competition has organized several further education courses, concerts and has provided financial aid to tutors of the best prepared competitors.
