Hello everyone,
I am writing on behalf of Mohammed, a Yemeni citizen, who is currently in Malaysia.
Mohammed left Yemen because the situation there was too dangerous. He studied International Business Administration and is now trying to find job opportunities in Malaysia or elsewhere.
Unfortunately, because he does not have Malaysian citizenship, nor does he have any kind of permit/residency, he is not allowed to work.
Mohammed learned that in order to get a work visa, he will have to pay about 300 dollars. Since he is not currently working, he is unable to pay for the visa.
He also needs about 200 dollars for travel costs (e.g. airfare).

That is why we are reaching out to his network and supporters to ask for help with covering the cost of the visa. Any help that Mohammed can get through his networks would be greatly appreciated.

Here is his story:

I was born in a rural area in a small village, Al jabeen village, in 21/10/1992 . I lived with my father, mother, and grandfather . I have 1 brothers and 4 sisters. We lived in a small home . Even though life was difficult, we managed.
However, when the war started in Yemen, things got worse. There was destruction everywhere, and I could hear the sound of weapons, planes and rockets four times a day. The situation became so bad that I felt that I had to leave Yemen in order to find a safe place and to take care of my family: I need to support my father who worked as a teacher, but who has not been receiving any salary for the past four years. Further, my brother also needs help because he has a serious illness, which requires monthly treatment that costs $ 100 a month and frequent trips to Sana'a where he can get treatment.

I decided to go to Malaysia, as I felt that I would be safe and would have better opportunities to find a job. Unfortunately, the Malaysian government does not allow refugees like me to work. If the government found out that I was working illegally, I would be sent to prison for 7 months and be banned from the country for five years.

I cannot go back to Yemen. Millions are starving, and thousands have died due to the ongoing bombings, limited food supplies, and high levels of poverty.

I want to live like a normal person in the world and make my family's life better. That's why I need to find work in order to take care of them.

This is my situation, and I hope that you can help me.
Thank you,

Mohammed
