Local and international organizations and independent experts have reported that, since the last 2 decades, armed and political conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC) have caused more than 10 million deaths (more than those of the holocaust and genocides together); and have displaced more than 17 million Congolese as refugees within the country as well as in other countries.
In the East part of the country, which is very rich in minerals, men, women and children have been raped and slaughtered while their belongings are burned. This has been occurring every week for the past 25 years in a region where the UN forces have an estimated 20,000 peacekeepers near the UN base.
Men's demonstrations are always violently repressed by police, however women members of the Elite Movement for Democracy and Real Change and other human rights groups and movements have started a successful nationwide campaign against this form of genocide. Peaceful demonstrations will continue until the Congolese government adopts and implements measures to protect innocent civilians and bring back peace and security in this region.
Your donation will help us buy materials such as flags, banners, t-shirts, plastic bags, whistles, and banderols to use in our peaceful demonstrations that are occurring every day across the country.
Thank you very much in advance for your contribution in helping to stop the genocide in DR Congo.
