THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated and been part of this effort. We are so, so grateful for your hearts. With the money you helped us raise (70 million IDR / $6,600 AUD / $5,152 USD to be exact), we've been able to provide for over 200 people in need. But, we're not done.

There are still so many displaced families that need relief. Bali now has an increasing number of Mount Agung refugees that are rebuilding and making sense of their new lives. It's up to all of us to lend a hand in their time of need. It's a community effort.

We approached this fundraiser knowing firmly that individuals don't create true change alone. Alone, we may not have the resources or manpower to make epic things happen. Or, to help people in a significant way.

It takes a community of us to care before real progress can be made. Which is why your support in our Mount Agung Fundraiser is so needed, important, and meaningful to us.

There has been people who have donated $500. Others who donated $10. And others who couldn't afford to donate, so they shared the fundraiser on social media instead. No matter which category you fall into, you've made an enormous difference and we are beyond grateful to you.

We've put together a diary detailing the work we've done so far this month to provide help to Mount Agung refugees. Read on for an inside look at our relief efforts thus far.

December

After liaising with local authorities, we gained a clear understanding of which supplies were most in need in the distressed area we were to visit. Our shopping list ran a little longer than standard since we planned to supply over 200 people with enough food for at least minimum of two weeks.

Here's what our shopping carts were filled with:

• 1.2 tonnes of rice
• 200kg carrots
• 112 crates of eggs
• 60 g of garlic
• Sacks of Onions
• Sacks of Sweet potatoes
• 13 bags of Capoke
• 165 kg Cabbage
• 240 bottles of cooking oil
• 200 bottles of Sambal & Kecap Manis
• Dried fish
• Pumpkin

We also stocked up on mattresses, carpets, and sanitary items such as fresh soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, washing detergent, and nappies. Once we had the goods, we set out to create individualized care packages for the relief efforts. All of the supplies were then picked, packed and loaded onto trucks generously donated to us by our friends at BES Care.

In a convoy that consisted of four trucks loaded with supplies, 8 dirt bikes, 3 cars and 21 of us, we drove to the location sheltering hundreds of Mount Agung refugees. We drove to Sibetan in Karangasem, to a school that has been vacated and has been housing the refugees for the past three months.

Before distributing supplies, we spent the greater part of our time that day connecting with the families in need. An incredibly humbling experience to say the least.

We also travelled to the red zone on our dirt bikes (a rough route that cars can't handle) to deliver 10 bags of 20kg of food. Riding deep into the sides of Mt. Agung leaving food out for all the starving, furry loved ones left behind. We work with an amazing group of Volunteers and Veterinarians who are able to tend to the sick and injured animals as we go.

ABOUT OUR RELIEF EFFORTS

The eruption has forced a growing number of Balinese families to leave their homes, livelihoods and furry loved ones indefinitely. Nearly 20% won’t ever be able to go back to the places they once called home. From the main tourist-frequented areas in Bali, many of us had underestimated Mount Agung’s effect.

On December 5th, we ran our first mission to Karangasem.

Over 70,000 people displaced.

300 distinct locations evacuated.

5,000,000 rupiahs raised.

Yet, we realised immediately the need to raise more.

We’ve teamed up with an incredible group of volunteers to bring relief to families in need. Just this Tuesday, we visited relief sites, and realized how much more help the displaced families need. From the main tourist-frequented areas in Bali where we live and travelled from, we underestimated Mount Agung’s effect. The eruption has forced a growing number of Balinese families to leave their homes, livelihoods and furry loved ones indefinitely. Nearly 20% won’t ever be able to go back to the places they once called home.

When natural disasters like this hit close to home, we’re reminded of all the things we normally take for granted.

With the money you spend on your morning macchiato and bagel, you could send comfort and relief to those affected.

Just $20 will supply 2 people with a care package containing deodorant, toothbrush, soap, toilet paper, shampoo & sanitary pads and basic food supplies.

With $50, we can supply 10 care packs.

The more you give, the more people we can help.

With your donations, we’ll be able to feed and provide for more displaced families and animals. We will work closely with the evacuation zones to purchase exactly what needed for that particular area.

ACCOUNTABILITY

We will be collecting and distributing 100% of the money and clothing to the people in need. There will be full accountability and transparency for all the donations, providing images and receipts for proof of money spent.

None of the money raised will be going towards any cost involved in acquiring or delivering the donations. All participation in these activities will be with our team of volunteers, who are more than happy to contribute their time.
