Be an Ally Foundation is a non-profit foundation in Cyprus that creates novel awareness-raising methods to encourage mobilization around social issues occurring in our daily lives. For the last year, Be an Ally Foundation has been operating the first digital awareness campaign for gender equality in Cyprus titled "Thkio Logia," which to date has reached over 300,000 people across the island.

In the Greek-Cypriot dialect, which is infused with cultural nuances of its historical past and present, “Thkio Logia” or <<Θκυό Λόγια>>, is a phrase that signifies the beginning of a short conversation. In this case, small pieces of advice for gender equality. Through creative social media campaigning via infographics, interactive GIFs, and more, our initiatives provide reliable and accessible information for a better understanding of gender equality and gender-related challenges, and to showcase how, in today’s society, already established standards and norms influence our reality, reinforce stereotypes, and support the structures that create institutional and societal inequalities.

This year, Thkio Logia, under the Be an Ally Foundation, is writing and publishing two books (one adult book and one children’s book) in an effort to reach more people through new channels.

The adults' version aims to capture how gender inequality affects both women and men, and to present everyday examples that showcase how gender dimension is everywhere. It also provides advice and ways on how each one of us can fight gender inequality and challenges as we go about in our daily life.

The children's book aims to help children (aged 9-12) to break their gendered stereotypes and challenge notions about what it means to be masculine or feminine. The book is about a story of students at school who are defying several stereotypes which they are facing in their everyday life and they learn that boys and girls can do anything.
