Support the Alzheimer’s Disease Project

Alzheimer’s disease is a devastating condition that has no effective treatment or cure. While science and modern health is stretching human lifespan Alzheimer’s disease is increasing exponentially, highlighting the urgent need for novel prevention and treatment strategies.

We have recently identified two novel molecular pathways involved in the processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) and clearance of the APP-derived neurotoxic amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptide, which accumulates to an excessive degree as amyloid deposits in the brain of Alzheimer’s disease patients.

We are in the lucky position of having received partial funding for a PhD project to explore these newly identified pathways, which could serve as novel targets for the development of neuroprotective and disease modifying drugs. However, the partial funding of 140,000.00 USD will be retracted unless we manage to raise the remaining part (93,000.00 USD) before the end of October 2018. Such a critical time frame calls for drastic measures so with this appeal, we will be immensely grateful to you for supporting us in any way that you can.

Updates:

October 18: We are happy to announce that we have just been granted 10,000 USD from a private foundation and we can adjust the lack of funding to 83,000 of the original 93,000 USD.

October 21: We have just received 15,000 USD in support from an external partner and can adjust the amount needed to 68,000 USD.
