We are Vinas and Lital, a married couple of an Iranian and an Israeli. Unfortunately, the politics prevent us from entering our home countries.
Help us survive this tragic situation. We believe that with your support, we can get through, and find a home in the world for our family.
We met at a "Peace in the Middle East" themed camping event in Turkey, in the spring of 2018, fell in love and decided we want to spend our lives together.
As you know, both our governments have problems with each other, and we cannot enter our countries anymore.
We have been asylum seekers in Cyprus for almost 3 years, in very difficult daily realities: We were not permitted to work in regular jobs, we were unemployed and we were not supported by the country's welfare system. For most of our time in Cyprus we have been homeless.
*Update*
After waiting for 2 years and 9 months, in October 2021 we were granted a refugee status in Cyprus.
After realizing that even though we got Cyprus residency, we will not be eligible to become citizens, we moved to Portugal in October 2022.
We currently stay on a small farm in exchange for animal care and we are doing our arts (check out our natural creations on Instagram thebasketlady and here in the rewards), that we also offer at the local markets and we hope to get back on our feet soon.
It isn't simple for us but we decided to share our story and ask for help in order to change this situation. We have created this crowdfunding campaign, and named it "Support stateless family". You can also find us on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
This fundraiser allowed open hearted people to support us over the last 3 years, and you literally helped us to survive difficult times when we were in need.
With the donations that we will gratefully receive we will be able to pay for basic living expenses and to find a place to stay.
Starting a life in a new country is not easy, let alone that we were in survival mode for the past 3 years, with no income or certainty. We wish to live peacefully on our own piece of land with many animals.
We are offering our supporters unique and beautiful handicrafts that we make using natural materials: Jewellery, dream catchers, woven accessories, baskets and traditional Persian flutes.
Those would make lovely handmade holiday gifts!
We also hope that by sharing our story we will be able to reach people that can and want to help us.
Please donate to our cause and help us to build our lives. We will appreciate any kind of support, and you can be a part of changing our future for the better.
If you wish to help us, please also share our story (this page) to more people and in the social medias.
Thank you,
Vinas and Lital.
